Simon Kasha was born in New York City, raised in Paris, and found joy everywhere before passing away at the age of 10 from a rare childhood cancer. His father (Alon), mother (Betsy), and sister (Sarah) established the Simon Kasha Foundation in his honor. The foundation created and supports La Maison de Simon, a rustic converted stone barn that serves as an artist's residence and community arts center in Fontaine-sous-Jouy, a pastoral town in Normandy, France, where Simon spent weekends with his family. La Maison de Simon's six- to 12-week residencies are designed for creative inspiration and cultural exchange, and artists in the fields of visual art, music, writing, and the culinary arts are invited to apply. Through its love and support of the arts, the foundation celebrates the life, intellectual curiosity, and radiance of Simon.
