Jazz at Lincoln Center and Equal Justice Initiative Premiere Animated Short

An important conversation between Jazz at Lincoln Center artistic director Wynton Marsalis and EJI founder/executive director Bryan Stevenson about the value of art has been brought to life through art.

Last May, Wynton Marsalis and Bryan Stevenson sat down for a wide-ranging virtual conversation to discuss the necessity and importance of art in understanding the identity and history of the United States. Stevenson delved into the idea of Black excellence that inspires him to honor the resilience of Black artists such as Mahalia Jackson, Dizzy Gillespie, and Louis Armstrong, who persevered through prejudice and humiliation to find brilliance and genius. GRoW is honored to support a new animated short that captures highlights from the engaging conversation between Marsalis and Stevenson — and it can be viewed here.
