American Library in Paris Celebrates its Centennial

On October 8, Europe's largest English-language lending library raises a glass to 100 years of service with its Century Gala.

Established in 1920 following World War I, the American Library in Paris (ALP) has long since stood as a symbol of cultural exchange, French and American friendship, and the transformative power of literature to change hearts and minds. To honor its impact over the decades and to mark a milestone anniversary this year — its 100th — ALP is holding its annual fundraising gala in person and online while following safety protocols in the COVID-19 pandemic. The Century Gala is a hybrid event featuring live and virtual programming, including a keynote address from acclaimed author Susan Orlean, special author appearances, and a live auction.

GRoW is honored to support this historic centennial celebration and to continue its longstanding relationship with the American Library in Paris.
