LA Phil's Power to the People! Festival Honors Artists Engaged in Activism

This five-week celebration of musicians who use their platform as artists to champion social change, civil rights, and humanitarian causes takes place from March 5 to April 11.

The festivities kick off with a performance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles that features Herbie Hancock and the Gustavo Dudamel-conducted LA Phil. This concert will be followed by a series that is diverse in its content and programmatic styles, ranging from punk rock icon Patti Smith to gospel star Yolanda Adams to political sketches by Luis Valdez's Actos.
