The performance celebrates French Baroque master François Couperin on the 350th anniversary of his birth. Concerts royaux, Pièces de viole, Leçons de Ténèbres du Mercredi Saint, and Second Livre de pieces de clavecin are among the Couperin compositions to be featured. Part of the LA Opera's Off Grand initiative, which showcases unconventional repertoire in a variety of the city's venues, the concert takes place at Zipper Hall, located on the campus of the Colburn School in downtown Los Angeles.
