Learn More
Cancer Support Community Los Angeles (CSCLA) spotlights issues in cancer care by annually convening specialists in public health, behavioral health, and oncology to discuss the challenges and advancements in offering equitable cancer care to underserved communities. Titled "Exploring Social Determinants in Psychosocial Cancer Care" and supported by GRoW, this year's virtual conference examined pathways and solutions to eliminate disparities in equitable psychosocial care.
Offering insights from experts including clinical health psychologist Timothy Williamson, independent researcher Rhianna C. Rogers, and Cancer Support Community senior director of health equity Audrey Davis, the two-day Health Equity Summit featured such presentations as "The Stories That Bind Us: Unveiling Health Disparities in Asian American Communities," "Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity+ Data Collection and its Impact on LGBTQI+ Cancer Care," and "Psychosocial Support Needs of Black and African American, Spanish-Speaking Hispanic and Latino, and Rural People with Cancer," and "Technology's Role in Addressing Health Equity Challenges."
Founded in 1982, CSCLA is part of a global nonprofit network that has 190-plus locations, satellites, and hospital partners. The organization offers programs including support groups and individual counseling, healthy lifestyle classes, educational workshops, social activities, and Spanish, child, teen, and family programs.
GRoW is honored to continue its support of organizations such as CSCLA, Clínica Romero, Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital, and Westside Family Health Center, all of which examine health care through the lens of equity.
