Neue Galerie New York

Established in 2001, New York's Neue Galerie is the project of two friends – art dealer and museum curator Serge Sabarsky and businessman and art collector Ronald S. Lauder – who wanted to showcase early 20th century German and Austrian art and design. The museum features two floors of exhibition space, and features permanent collection displays as well as rotating special exhibitions. One floor is dedicated solely to art from Vienna circa 1900 and offers a unique comparison of this period's fine art with decorative art. The exhibition features renowned artists like Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser, and Dagobert Peche and celebrated architects like Adolf Loos and Joseph Urban. The German art and design collection celebrates various 20th century art movements such as the Blaue Reiter, the Brücke, and the Bauhaus.

By featuring artwork from a multitude of European artists, the Neue Galerie aims to provide a perspective on this period's Germanic culture, for both scholarly and aesthetic inquiry.
