Clínica Monseñor Oscar A. Romero

Clínica Monseñor Oscar A. Romero, often referred to simply as Clínica Romero, was established in 1983, when a coalition of Salvadoran civil war refugees and volunteer physicians sought to meet the needs of their fellow community members in Los Angeles. Inspired by the life of martyr Archbishop Romero of El Salvador, Clinica Romero aims to offer high-quality, compassionate, and culturally competent healthcare, regardless of a patient's insurance status or ability to pay. The clinic's two locations in Boyle Heights and Pico-Union offer crucial medical services in behavioral health, dentistry, primary care and disease prevention, pharmacy, and vision care. Beyond these comprehensive medical services, Clínica Romero offers intensive substance-abuse disorder treatment and outpatient services for adults and youth, programs for women and children, and partnerships to meet the needs of individuals experiencing houselessness. Through these programs, as well as through extensive health education and community outreach work, the clinic embodies the belief that healthcare is a human right.

When the global COVID-19 pandemic reached Los Angeles in 2020, Clínica Romero worked tirelessly to support some of the city's most marginalized communities, including immigrant, undocumented, and low-income individuals.
