Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital opened its new facilities in South Los Angeles in 2015 through an innovative public-private partnership between several healthcare providers, the County of Los Angeles, and the University of California. Further, it operates several programs beyond the hospital walls to ensure the health of the South L.A. community. Know Your Basics offers free health screenings and health education, You Can brings students to the hospital and healthcare professionals to classrooms to introduce medical career pathways, Recipe for Health offers resources to community members with diabetes, and Man Up! provides free health screenings at local barbershops.
