Delivering Solutions Through Direct Service

Jewish Family Service of San Diego

Jewish Family Service of San Diego (JFS) was established in 1918 as a client-centered, impact-driven organization. More than a century later, JFS remains committed to the city's residents, providing meal delivery, youth mentorship, healthcare case management, aging life care, legal services, and loans, among other services.

JFS is also a regional leader in addressing issues affecting refugee and immigrant communities. The organization's Migrant Family Shelter is a crucial part of the San Diego Rapid Response Network, a coordinated approach to serving immigrant, asylum-seeking individuals and families in crisis. The Migrant Family Shelter has aided 180,000 people to date, offering safe shelter, medical screenings, emergency legal counsel, travel assistance, and hot meals. In sum, JFS's widespread network of services, which support more than 40,000 community members each year, embodies two core principles: to meet people where they are and to offer support that both uplifts and empowers.
