Martha's Vineyard Museum

Martha's Vineyard Museum, originally named the Dukes County Historical Society, was established in 1922 after its founding members acquired American Revolution-era documents. After several decades, the organization refined the parameters of its collection to items directly related to Martha's Vineyard. Today, the collection features historical books and photographs, archival documents, paintings, and objects. The institution also includes the Martha's Vineyard Museum Library, which dually functions as an archive and a research facility. The library offers genealogy services, through which families can access archival records for nearly every town in Massachusetts.
