Revealing a Region's Rich History

Autry Museum of the American West

In the decades since its founding, the Autry Museum of the West merged with the organization Women of the West and the Southwest Museum of the American Indian to create today's museum. The Autry's mission is to share the stories of all people and communities who make up the American West in order to better inform and educate visitors on the region's rich history. Today, the Autry is home to over 500,000 pieces of art and artifacts that embody the diverse and intricate communities which have inhabited the region over the course of time. These artifacts are distributed across three locations: the Autry Museum in Griffith Park, the Historic Southwest Museum Mt. Washington Campus, and the Resources Center of the Autry. In addition to exhibiting artistic and cultural artifacts, the Autry offers extensive events, programs, and outreach to bring to life the ways in which the West's history has shaped both the country and the world.
