For centuries, the life and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart have inspired and fascinated generations across the globe. In 1880, almost 100 years after his death, the citizens of the City of Salzburg, Austria, decided to establish the Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg Foundation to make Mozart's life, work, and personality accessible by offering concerts, maintaining the three Mozart museums, and supporting academic research.
Concerts include the annual Mozart Week, seasonal performances, concerts for local students and families, and the annual Dialogue Festival, which places traditional and contemporary art in conversation to imagine a new way forward in classical music. The Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg's museum offerings are also comprehensive: from Mozart's birthplace, to his residence, to an expansive library containing everything Mozart, visitors from across the globe have the opportunity to engage with a composer who lived more than two centuries ago. Through this expansive work, the Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg builds a bridge between traditional and contemporary music and enables audiences to understand Mozart from a dynamic array of perspectives.
