The Multifaith Alliance for Syrian Refugees (MFA) was founded to mobilize a coordinated response to the widespread humanitarian crisis resulting from the Syrian war in the early part of the 21st century. MFA is comprised of more than 90 participating organizations as well as religious and civil society authority figures. MFA advocates for sensitive and sensible responses to the crisis and addresses the plight of Syrian refugees through direct humanitarian aid. In three years, the Alliance shipped more than $150 million in humanitarian relief supplies from the United States to Syria and its bordering refugee camps.
MFA also works directly with Syria's healthcare system to rebuild the country's decimated healthcare infrastructure. It supplies hospitals with medicine and equipment that was lost during the war. As part of this healthcare work, MFA's Women's Relief Program addresses the unmet medical needs of Syrian women. Further, MFA has facilitated alliances between Syrian NGO's and the Israeli government to open new channels and deliver supplies to remote communities. Through these multi-faceted efforts, MFA is able to offer responsive support in collaboration with local Syrian organizations and plant the seeds for the country's thriving and stable future.
