Shreveport Opera

As one of the oldest opera companies in the United States, Shreveport Opera has hosted such stage luminaries as Beverly Sills, Franco Corelli, Leontyne Price, and Sherrill Milnes while helping to launch the careers of soprano Renee Fleming and bass-baritone Greer Grimsley. Shreveport Opera produces three mainstage productions each year and hosts other widely attended events, including the Mary Jacobs Smith Singer of the Year Competition. Its educational touring program, Shreveport Opera Express, performs concerts for local schools, libraries, community centers, homeless shelters, and children's hospitals throughout Louisiana.
