University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology

The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (better known as the Penn Museum) houses a robust education department that reaches diverse communities across the state. Its four-stage School Outreach Program provides interactive exposure to the cultures of ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Rome. Not only are these cultures well-represented in the museum's collection, the program also aligns directly with Common Core curricula, so visits will enhance what students are learning in the classroom. In addition, interactive experiments offer a hands-on introduction to ancient cultures, such as a "mummification ceremony" workshop that teaches essential elements of Egyptian beliefs and the STEM concepts involved.
