Safeguarding an Iconic City's Architecture

Los Angeles Conservancy

The Los Angeles Conservancy was formed in 1978 to save Downtown L.A.'s Central Library building. Over the decades, the conservancy has rescued many architectural landmarks from demolition, and it continues to ensure the preservation of the city's historical buildings, structures, landscapes, and neighborhoods. Through education and advocacy, the organization raises awareness about the value of historic places that strengthen L.A.'s communities, foster economic development, and enrich the lives of all Angelenos.
