Aquarium of the Pacific

Located in Long Beach, California, the Aquarium of the Pacific welcomes 1.7 million guests per year, making it the fourth most-visited aquarium in the United States. The institution displays approximately 12,000 animals living in the Pacific Ocean and offers educational programs that explore the three regions of the Pacific Ocean: the Northern Pacific, the Southern California/Baja region, and the Tropical Pacific. In addition, the aquarium educates visitors about breeding and conservation, housing of sea animals unfit for release, beach and habitat cleanups, green business practices, and the many threats to the ocean's health, including over-harvesting, habitat destruction, and global climate change.
