Educating From a Global Perspective

French International School of Oregon

The multilingual curriculum at the French International School of Oregon (formerly known as the French American International School) shapes young students into intellectually curious, civically engaged global citizens. Established in 1979 in Portland and authorized for International Baccalaureate (IB) instruction, the school combines this program with language immersion. In preschool and kindergarten, young students begin to learn French and engage in IB-guided play-based inquiry. First- through fifth-grade students in the Lower School continue French immersion under the instruction of native-speaking teachers and undergo the IB Primary Years Program. For students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade, the Middle School offers its IB program in English, French, German, Mandarin, and Spanish.

At every level, students learn in small classrooms led by experienced teachers that speak dozens of languages collectively. The French International School of Oregon is committed to educating its students in an environment that embodies its guiding principles: to develop global citizens, foster multi-language ability, shape active learners, and deliver academic excellence.
