Since its creation in 1967, the Montreux Jazz Festival has become a landmark cultural and musical event. For two weeks each summer, the event welcomes more than 250,000 visitors to enjoy performances by top jazz and blues musicians on the shores of Switzerland's Lake Geneva. In addition to showcases by artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Prince, Elton John, and Stevie Wonder, the festival offers programming dedicated to creating spaces for emerging artists to flourish. Over the years, the Montreux Jazz Festival (which is organized by the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation) has expanded from an intimate event hosted at the Montreux Casino to an ambitious spectacle spread across three venues within the Montreux Music and Convention Center. This tremendous growth has allowed wider audiences to experience the power and joy of jazz and blues music.
