The Foundation for Jewish Heritage's work is rooted in the belief that Jewish architectural sites, monuments, and places of cultural significance are repositories for heritage and visual chronicles of rich ancient history. The organization is committed to preserving these architectural sites across the European continent through four key approaches: cultivating research, spearheading advocacy, providing local partners with professional expertise, and securing resources for preservation efforts. One of the foundation's primary projects — mapping Europe's historic synagogues — developed the first-ever comprehensive list of the locations and conditions of more than 3,300 significant sites to guide preservation efforts. Although much of its work is focused in Europe, the foundation also operates initiatives in Syria and Iraq, which were once homes to large Jewish communities.
